In September 2024, we took the very first step of what would later become Centinela Explora. And we couldn't have chosen a more meaningful place: El Impenetrable National Park, a remote and untamed corner of northern Argentina where nature still rules and every trail feels like it's being walked for the first time.

There were six of us, but it felt like family. Three women, three men — including Salva, a young boy with a big heart, who joined us for days that will stay in our memory forever.

Over five days, we explored the Chaco forest, hiked its trails under the sun and the full moon, sailed the Bermejo River and visited a local community that welcomed us with open arms.

One of the most emotional moments was spotting a Plush-crested Jay (Cyanocorax chrysops). It’s not a rare bird, but its intense gaze and striking blue plumage against the dry forest backdrop made it unforgettable.

On day three, deep in the heart of the park, Salva turned 12. It was his first birthday in the wild. We sang under the open sky, with the Bermejo breeze and plenty of hugs. There was cake, candles, and above all, a moment he will never forget.

Beyond the trails, the wildlife, and the river, this trip gave us something greater: connection. With the land, with each other, and with ourselves.
